The NuForce S3-BT looks like your typical set of powered speakers, but instead of using a traditional, or what they call an “inferior SBC codec”, they’ve based thee S3-BT on the apt-X codec, which is said to produce “crystalline sound”. Now, everyone knows that Bluetooth has its shortcoming, no matter what codec you use. So NuForce has also included a set of analog inputs, allowing their customers to use NuForce’s own Air DAC wireless system. Their DAC provides true 16-bit performance that eclipses even their own version of Bluetooth, though it will probably take a discerning ear to hear the difference. Other features include a woofer that is constructed using a proprietary “anti-resonance” cone technique and powerful magnets. The tweeters are custom soft-dome design, which are said to offer the lowest distortion and smoothest natural response.
The NuForce S3-BT speakers will ship October 31st. They come wrapped in soft black or white leatherette for $299.
Grew up back East, got sick of the cold and headed West. Since I was small I have been pushing buttons - both electronic and human. With an insatiable need for tech I thought "why not start a blog focusing on technology, and use my dislikes and likes to post on gadgets."
